The annual Bellingham Bay Marathon will attract about 2,000 athletes to Bellingham-area roads Sunday, Sept. 26, and that'll mean traffic disruptions.
The event, which includes a marathon, half-marathon and a 5k, will use roads, streets and trails from the Lummi Peninsula down to Fairhaven.
Traffic disruptions will occur starting at around 5 a.m. and last through about 3 p.m., with closures in different areas at different times. Portions of the following roads will be affected: Blackhawk Way, Lummi View Drive, Lummi Shore Road, Marine Drive, Ferndale Road, Bennett Drive, Cottonwood Avenue, Seaview Avenue, Eldridge Avenue, Railroad Avenue, Wharf Street, 10th Street, Holly Street, Bay Street, Prospect Street, Dupont Street, Broadway and Madison Street.
